The business operation was experiencing great success and expanded on every front at a blistering pace. More equipment was being added year after year. Top secret information leaked from a reliable undercover source that excessive amounts of compressed air was being used. Somehow an evil enemy was pilfering compressed air. The unknown territories of operations needed to be infiltrated and investigated. Deep undercover operatives would have to be placed within the plants to investigate. The group had worked hard to investigate the possibilities of uptime, reliability and reducing losses.

For ten years, the Kansas State University Pollution Prevention Intern Program has assisted Kansas industries in identify cost savings associated with energy efficiency projects. Compressed air audits are an integral part of the intern program, and interns not only identify compressed air leaks, but also prepare protocols so the industry can take over when the interns leave the facility. This session will share data on energy savings identified through the intern program and present industry case studies from facilities that hosted interns.
